How To Automatically Attribute Deals to Events With event·hapily

Learn how to associate Deals with their respective Events using event·hapily’s “Attribute Deal to Event” workflow action!

If you get a Contact to register / attend an Event through a Deal, you may want that Deal associated to that same Event in HubSpot. But doing so manually can be tedious! Especially if you have a large backlog of Deals and Events.

event·hapily to the rescue! The Attribute Deal To Event workflow action will do all of the grunt work for you.

It works by looking at a Deal’s associated Contact. It then looks at that Contact’s Event history and associates the Deal to the Events based on the criteria you choose. Let’s take a look at how to set this up.


1. Start by creating a Deal based workflow. The enrollment criteria can be whatever you want, but Deal Stage is any of Closed Won AND Number of associated contacts is greater than 0, is what we recommend!


2. Click the + button beneath the workflow trigger and select the Attribute Deal to Event workflow action.

3. In the action's first field, you can choose to associate the Deal to its Contact's First EventMost Recent Event, or All Events. Since All Events can cover a wide number, there are two additional fields below this one to help narrow things down.


4. The second field allows you to limit associations to Events that occurred within a certain number of days. So if you only wanted Events that occurred within the last 30 days to be considered, you could write 30 here!


5. You can also choose to only associate the Deal to Events that have a specific label. For example, you might want to only associate Events that the Contact actually attended. Since event·hapily tracks attendance through labels, you can choose the Attended label.

6. Click Save and you’re done! Now Whenever a Deal closes, it will be automatically associated to the proper Events.
